Whale watching with Juneau Tours offers a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and being well-prepared will ensure you make the most of your adventure. Packing a few key items will keep you comfortable and ready for anything that comes your way.
Capture the Experience
Make sure to bring your camera to capture the incredible sight of humpback whales breaching or orcas swimming nearby. Since our tours last a few hours, packing extra batteries or a portable charger is a good idea to ensure you’re ready for every photo opportunity.
Dress for Changing Weather
Juneau’s weather is known for being unpredictable, especially out on the water. Layering is essential. Start with a light base layer, then add warmer layers as needed. Don’t forget a warm coat and a waterproof rain jacket to protect yourself from wind, rain, and sea spray. As for shoes, opt for waterproof boots or sturdy sneakers with good grip since the boat’s deck can get slippery.
Sun Protection
Even on cloudy days, the sun’s reflection off the water can be intense. Be sure to bring sunglasses, sunscreen, and a wide-brimmed hat to shield yourself from UV rays, even if it feels cool outside.
Combat Sea Sickness
If you’re prone to motion sickness, make sure to bring seasickness medication or natural remedies like ginger candies or acupressure wristbands. Although the Inside Passage is generally calm, it’s better to be prepared for any movement on the water.
Snacks and Hydration
No need to worry about snacks! Juneau Whale Watch provides water and granola bars to keep you fueled during the tour. If you prefer, you can also bring your own snacks for extra energy throughout the day.
Binoculars for a Closer Look
Bringing binoculars can enhance your experience by giving you a closer look at the whales and other wildlife. While our crew will help spot the action, binoculars allow you to observe the marine life up close at your own pace.
Be Ready for an Unforgettable Adventure
By packing these essentials, you’ll be ready for a fantastic whale-watching adventure. With everything you need in hand, you can focus on enjoying the incredible beauty of Alaska’s wildlife. Book your spot with Juneau Tours today!
